Frank X. McNamara created the first credit card. It was called the Diners Card. At the end of 1950 about 200,000 people were using the Diner Card. The credit card used today is very helpful. Instead of going to the bank, you have money in a simple piece of plastic. Now almost everybody have credit cards. There are also a lot of different companies that make different kinds of credit cards. We can buy anything by using creed card within our credit limit.

June 25 1950 -Korean WAR
North Korea invades South Korea to make North Korea stronger. They had split because of their difference in government, North Korea being a communist government and South Korea being a Rightwing-government. There was no technical winner. The 2 nations did not sign a peace treaty. They only signed a ceasefire agreement which temporarily stops the war.
1950- Anti-Communist Government in Taiwan
Chinese leader Chiang Kai-Shek forms an anti-communist government in Taiwan. His army had retreated to Taiwan where he formed his government. He had left China because it had become a communist government. His action changed how Taiwan is today. He was also president of the republic china before he went to Taiwan.

February 21, 1951- Twenty Second Amendment
The twenty second amendment is passed limiting the amount of presidential terms to 2. This was because of President Frank R. Roosevelt running 4 terms. Now each president can only be president for a total of 8 years. This seems fair because a president can only do something for so long.
April 28, 1951- Peace Treaty
San Francisco had signed a peace treaty with Japan. This is declared peace between
the U.S and Japan. This also served as the end of World War 2. It also ended
japans imperial power. Now our nations can live in peace, and this was better
for everybody. If we didn’t do those think what our lives would be like? Japan
is responsible for almost all our entertainment. Video games, cars, and manga
are all imports from Japan.
1952- First Republic President of USA
President Dwight Eisenhower becomes the first republican president in 20 years of U.S
history. Usually America is a democratic government. Now instead of the people voting for
what we wanted we couldn’t. It probably was weird that we had a
sudden change in government overnight.
May 29, 1953- Mount Everest being conquered
The highest mountain in the world is finally climbed. Mt. Everest is climbed by
Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Tenzing Norgay. This mountain took 7 weeks to climb.
They had to go through harsh weather. They had a little chance of survival. They
made it but they had lost a crew member on the way. They had set a millstone
that would encourage people to get out there comfort zone.
February1953- Introduction of Legendary Actress
The movie Niagra is released starting one of the greatest actresses in history rise
to fame. Marylyn Monroe. She would later go on to star in blockbuster movies.
She stared in movies like the Misfits and many others. She would go on to be an
inspiration to many actresses we have today. This shows how great she was. This
was how inspirational it was. It all started whit the movie Niagara.
1954-First Organ Transplant
In 1954 the first organ transplant took place. The first organ transplanted was a kidney.
After watching the procedure many doctors learned how to transplant organs. Since that year organ transplant has saved the lives of thousandths of people. We are still learning to transplant new organs. Hopefully sometime in the future
no one will need a transplant.
1954- First African American Girl in Segregated School
Linda Brown becomes the first African American girl to go to a segregated school. This
was due to the Brown vs. board of education lawsuit which stopped segregation in
schools. It also shook the public education system to their core. This also made
schools unsegregated. This was also a huge victory for the civil rights
movement. Why should kids have to suffer through racism and a race built
society.
November 1, 1955- Vietnam War
In 1954 the U.S and Vietnam go to war because America wanted to stop Communism from spreading. Vietnam and the U.S went to war for 19 years. In the end the U.S effort went in vain. In a nearly 20 year war the U.S had lost. This war would go down in history as one of the worst wars in history. To this day Vietnam is still a communist government.
December 1, 1955-Montgomery Bus Boycott
Rosa parks refused to give up her seat for a white passenger and she got arrested. This started the Montgomery Bus Boycott movement which allowed African Americans were now allowed to sit anywhere on a bus. In the end the bus company was losing a lot of money. They
decided to make the bus fair and unsegregated. This was also a huge victory for the civil rights movement.
July 17, 1955- Opening of Disney Land
Disney land in Anaheim California has been opened. This was the first Disney theme park
and the only one built under Walt Disney’s super vision, one of the most successful theme parks in the world. They make over thousandths of dollars a day. This amusement park is one reason why Disney is a million dollar company. Who wouldn’t want to work with them?
